Ayurdhama Hospital is offering two day training certificate course & workshops on Ksharakarma, Ksharasootra, Raktamokshana and Agnikarma to ayurvedic students and doctors who are keen in learning and utilizing these therapies in their practice. The initiative of imparting training and spreading knowledge among fellow practioners has been taken by our enthusiastic Medical Director Dr.Hariprasad Shetty. There is lack of institutions, where you can get practical knowledge of various ayurvedic therapies. Great effort has been made by us in developing a well formed classical curriculum to touch each and every part of theory as written in our samhitas and special care has been taken to impart hands on training to each and every participant and make them expert so that he is fully ready to perform these procedures on their patients immediately. These workshops will definitely help you shape your practice better.
1. Ksharakarma and Kshara sootra
Ksharakarma is an important part of ayurvedic surgery. In our text kshara used for both external and internally i.e Paniya and Pratisaraniya kshara.
Kshara used outside body in 2 ways, for simple application and along with a thread which is known as ksharasutra used for various disease for cutting and curative purpose.

- Kshara preparation, Kshara sootra preparation.
- Application of Kshara in hemorrhoids.
- Application of Kshara sootra in fistula in ano and hemorrhoids.
- Pre operative, Operative and Post operative procedure in ano rectal disorders (Theory & Practical).
2. Agnikarma
Agnikarma therapy, one of the ancient ayurvedic parasurgical therapy has been mentioned in Sushruta samhita and has been used by ayurvedic practioners since ages. But over the period of time this therapy lost its existence. It has been practiced by only few practioners.
This workshop is conducted with the main aim of teaching practical aspect of this lost wonderful therapy, which is extremely helpful in providing pain free life to so many patients whose life has become miserable because of various painful conditions. This therapy will definitely add to the skills of the practioners and enhance their practical knowledge as well as widen their area of practice.
Various types of instruments used in different diseases:
Instruments used in Twak gata roga (for superficial skin level disease):-
- Pippali ( piper longum)
- Shara (arrow)
- Shalaka( probes)
Instruments used in Mamsa gata roga (for deep seated muscle based disease):-
- Jamboshta
- Itaraloha
Instruments used in Sira(vessels related), Snayu(ligaments related), Sandigata (joints related) roga :
- Madhu (honey)
- Guda (jaggery)
- Sneha (oil, ghee)

3. Raktamokshana

- Alabu chikitsa (Dry, wet & fire cupping or hijama therapy)
- Jalaukavacharana (Leech therapy)

1.PRACHHANA KARMA : Incision treatment explained by Acharya Sushruta for various disease.
2.SIRAVYADHA (Vein puncture):
Using blade, needle, scalp vein set and vein cannula.
3. ALABU CHIKITSA ( Cupping OR Hijama therapy)
Three types of cupping is taught:
- Dry cupping
- Fire cupping
- Wet cupping
4. JALOUKAAVCHARANA (Leech therapy/ Hirudotherapy)
It includes:
- Leech handling
- Shodhana of leech before application.
- Application of leech on patient directly.
- Direction of application of leech on the site
- Care of leech during application timely.
- Various Vamana methods of the leech after detaching from the site.
- Care and bandaging of the wound by aseptic measures according to ayurvedic principles only.
