Ayurvedic Management of Allergic Rhinitis

Ayurvedic Management of Allergic Rhinitis

  • Allergic rhinitis, also called Hay fever, causes cold-like symptoms.
  • Allergic rhinitis is caused by an allergic response to a harmless outdoor or indoor substance that the body identifies as harmful (allergen).
  • Common allergens that can trigger hay fever symptoms include pollen and dust mites. Tiny flecks of skin shed by cats, dogs, and other animals with fur or feathers (pet dander) also can be allergens.

ALLERGIC RHINITIS IN AYURVEDA

According to ayurveda, it is compared to Vata- Kaphaja Pratishyaya which is caused by aama and viruddha ahara.

Aama is the product of impaired digestion and metabolism. It affects Rasa and Raktha Dhathu leading to manifestation of pratishyaya.

Viruddha ahara (wrong food combinations) having antagonist properties like fish with milk, fruit juice with milk, clarified butter with honey, ice cream after night meals, etc. leads to allergy
